HRA Units
- Connects Georgia State employees with University System of Georgia (USG) benefits, including health insurance coverage, saving accounts, retirement plans, tuition assistance and perks.
- Helps employees manage life events including family and bereavement leave, accommodation need and worker’s compensation coverage.
- Coordinates transfer of benefits for retiring employees and other separations from Georgia State employment.
- Coordinates Georgia State’s job classification process for staff, including ensuring consistency in job titles and work specifications and paygrades and compensation ranges.
- Works with department leaders to establish new staff positions; update and/or reclassify existing positions; and design and manage career paths.
- Monitors and adheres to the Wages and the Fair Labor Standards Act requirements
- Increases awareness about the multiple cultures and communities that contribute to Georgia State’s rich diversity.
- Deepens understanding about the factors that impact employee’s perception of belonging.
- Assists supervisors and managers with fostering equity, inclusion, and belonging in their respective departments and among their teams.
- Facilitates programs and services that support the health and well-being of Georgia State employees, eligible dependents and retirees.
- Coordinates Georgia State’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) including confidential consultation, short-term counseling, assessment and referrals.
- Connects Georgia State employees with USG well-being programs and resources.
- Educates the Georgia State community about GSU and USG employee-related policies.
- Consults, facilitates, and mediates to strengthen working relationships, manage difference and conflict, and support a productive and respectful work environment.
- Strengthens people management skills by advising, coaching and training supervisors and leaders.
- Oversees ‘onboarding’ of all new hires, including staff, faculty, graduate and undergraduate student employees.
- Establishes and updates personnel records and verifies GSU employment history.
- Manages access to OneUSG Connect, the employee portal of the USG.
- Identifies technology solutions to increase HRA’s efficiency and strengthen customer service.
- Collects and compiles workforce data including employee retention and engagement, for university leaders and workforce stakeholders.
- Coordinates HRA’s communication strategies including web design and updates.
- Increases the skills of employees, analyzes workflows, and improve business processes and procedures.
- Provides individual coaching and team building for supervisors, managers and leaders.
- Supports the professional growth, learning and development of staff through new employee orientation and in-person and virtual training.
- Finds talented individuals who can help Georgia State to achieve its mission.
- Identifies, recruits, and engages prospective employees.
- Helps hiring managers to develop effective and compliant tools for assessing and selecting candidates.
HRA Working Relationships
HRA regularly collaborates and coordinates services with the Georgia State offices and also maintains a close working relationship with Human Resource Officers (HROs) assigned to Colleges and Divisions across the University.
- HROs manage employee concerns for their respective college and division and serves as the liaison to central Human Resources Administration.

The office of ECRC reports to the Office of the Provost and ensures that Georgia State complies with state and local affirmative action and equal employment opportunity laws and policies.
